Pulled into the driveway and put vehicle into park and turned vehicle off removed key and when i took my foot off the break the vehicle started rolling backwards. After getting to flat ground where it would not roll i tried to restart it and it would not start. I could not move the shift lever at all either. Had a mechanic friend look at it and he manually pulled the linkage forward to click it into park so i could…

Randomly my car will have problems shifting gears using going into 3rd gear and the rpm will shoot up. Also when putting the car in reverse it hesitates and then starts sputtering. Once i turned the car off and restarted it it started shifting normally but about 10 minutes later it started again. I have this problem when i'm on the city streets or on the interstate. I wonder why there havent been a recall for this…

Traction control/stabilink system does not work properly. Vehicle will lose power while accelerating. There is a grinding noise which slowes the vehicle down. This happens each time the vehicle is driven. This is very dangerous when pulling out into traffic or onto highways where others are traveling at fast rate of speed. I see many complaints on the web when researching 2010 chevy traverse for problems. The vin…

Door locks unlock/lock and then the car seems to go into neutral and the rpm goes to about 7,000. This has killed the engine twice. Gm has assigned a case number 8-423-8930914. Tcm, catalytic converter and neutral switch had been replaced and no change. Happens at various speeds - 75, 55,40,8mph and stopped. This has happened at least 30 times in the 34 days that we have owned it. It has been into the dealership…

In 2014, i had the timing chain issues. Gm covered all but $1,000 of the repair. Now again, 4 years later, and 40,000 miles on the timing chain that was replaced, i'm having the exact same issue. Dealer says timing chain needs to be replaced. I am over the 5 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, so they tell me it won't be covered and it will all by at my own expense. This is an engineering flaw, and we the…

At 90,000 miles, a p0008 code came up and the entire timing chain system needed to be replaced. The cost was $2870.00 because the entire motor had to be dropped. If the vehicle was a 2009, they would have repaired it under warranty but because it was a 2010, chevy would not do anything about it.

Premature stretching of the timing chain. This is a documented and admitted defect by general motors for the 2009 model year traverse vehicles, service bulletins 10287c - april 2012 and 11340a - may 2012. Randomly transmission gets stuck in gear and will not shift. Stop the car, turn off and then start and problem usually clears and transmission will shift normally. Problem may clear for a week , a couple of days or may happen again on re-start. Does not seem to be a pattern to failure. Can happen at start-up or after the car has been driven for awhile in the middle of traffic. Appears to be stuck in a lower gear…

Check engine light came on at about 78,000 miles. Dealer indicated it was the drive chain needed repair ($2000-2500). This problem was covered by special policy #11340b ' special coverage adjustment ' timing chain wear " in 2009 chevy traverse models. My vehicle has had excellent maintenance and care, usually by the dealer. This should not be an issue at only 78,000 miles.

Transmission gets stuck after about 3rd gear and does not want to shift causing vehicle to jerk violently and driver is not able to control the speed of the vehicle. Does not happen every time, happens once in a while out the blue when driving on city streets or highways. Also heard of this happening on other vehicles same make and model. Please look into this for future problems with this company.

At 88,000 mile i have recieved a p0008 code - timing chains. This is odd to have stretched timing chains at this mileage. Reviewing similar complaints on the internet, this seems to be a common problem with 3.6 l engines made before 2011. I contact gm with no avail. Being such a common complaint by many why isn't gm standing behind this problem?
